The BJP won the floor test in Manipur state assembly with the support of 32 MLAs. After the victory, CM Biren Singh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

I thank my team, it is not my success it is Modiji’ victory. The people of Manipur have won.
Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur

The BJP, which was at second spot in the state, winning 21 seats to the Congress party's 28, did not waste time in getting four MLAs each of the National People's Party and the Naga People's Front (NPF), which is also one of NDA's alliance partners at the Centre, to its side, plus three other lawmakers.

Opposition Congress on Monday pressed for expeditiously taking up of its substantive motion on the conduct of the Governors of Goa and Manipur in not calling the single largest party to form government after the assembly elections.

Raising the issue, Digvijaya Singh (Cong) said he has moved a substantive motion under rule 168 on the conduct of Governors and wanted to know when it will be taken up.

BJP Murdered Democracy in Manipur and Goa, Says Congress

Opposition Congress on Monday pressed for expeditiously taking up of its substantive motion on the conduct of the Governors of Goa and Manipur in not calling the single largest party to form government after the assembly elections.

Raising the issue, Digvijaya Singh (Cong) said he has moved a substantive motion under rule 168 on the conduct of Governors and wanted to know when it will be taken up.

Deputy Chairman P J Kurien said the notice has been received and it is under consideration. "As and when Chairman decides on the admissibility, you will be intimated," he said.

Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad however said the phrase "murder of democracy" should not go on record, a plea which was vehemently opposed by the Congress and other opposition parties including Left.

"Murder of democracy is not an unparliamentary phrase and it cannot be expunged," said Tapan Sen (CPI-M).
