Former England all-rounder Andre Flintoff, in a special interaction with the ICC, revealed his thoughts on the eventual winners of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Flintoff, who played two World Cups for England, was now seen picking his favorites for the tournament.
The video was shared by Cricket World Cup’s official Twitter handle.
He considered New Zealand as the fark horses of the tournament, saying that he likes the New Zealanders. About Pakistan, Flintoff said that the team has an outside chance.
About South Africa, the former England all-rounder said that the team will fail to hold their nerve during the key moments of the tournament. Nerves have always got the better of South Africa, the semi-final against Australia in 1999 was the best example to prove this phenomenon. The pressure of a semi-final came back to haunt them again in 2015 where they lost to New Zealand.
Flintoff also had an opinion on teams like Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
While he said that Bangladesh might struggle in English conditions, he backed Afghanistan to stage an upset by winning against one of the major teams.
He picked India, Australia, England and Aouth Africa as his semi finalists, further going onto say that England will become the eventual champions by defeating India in the final.
