The 2016 IPL auction has been full of shockers. Lesser known players are being sold at massive prices and international stars like Martin Guptill and Hashim Amla were unsold.
The latest surprise is M Ashwin, who was sold for Rs 4.5 crore to the Rising Pune Supergiants. He bagged the eight highest price in the auctions.
The Chennai lad hasn’t played a single IPL game and has featured in only six domestic T20 games.
He made his T20 debut for Tamil Nadu against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last month. The leg-spinner picked up ten wickets in the tournament with best figures of 3/18.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad too made a shocking purchase of right-hand batsman Deepak Hooda for Rs 4.2 crore.
Hooda played for the Rajasthan Royals last year and managed to score only 151 runs at an average of 16.77. His recent form is also not impressive. Hooda’s scores in the last five first-class matches are 15, 53, 32, 4 and 11.
