Tiger Woods is a winner again, capping off one of the most remarkable comebacks in golf history.
More than five years since his last win, after four surgeries on his lower back that had left him wondering if he could ever play again, Woods ended his comeback season with a dominant victory at the Tour Championship.
He built a five-shot lead early and hung on to finish at 1-over 71 for a two-shot victory over Billy Horschel.
This is his 80th victory on the PGA Tour and first in more than five years.
With massive crowds following him around the course, Woods’ final tap-in for victory was celebrated with loud cheers as he raised both arms over his head, wearing his trusty Sunday red shirt.
Golfers, some contemporaries as well as legends all took to social media to welcome back the champion.
One of the men Tiger beat to the title on Sunday, Justin Rose, also posted a message for Tiger, congratulating the ‘GOAT’ on his 80th PGA tour title.
Footballers and musicians also joined in to wish the champion.
