We’re excited to see what new kids on the block, Rising Pune Supergiants, will bring to the league this season. The star-studded side will be led by MS Dhoni and joining him will be international bigwigs Steve Smith and Faf du Plessis. That’s not all; local celebrities Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin will also join the side.
The Supergiants have clinched a number of heavyweights in Saturday’s IPL auction in Bangalore. Ishant Sharma and Kevin Pietersen have set them back by Rs 3.8 cr and Rs 3.5 cr respectively, while Irfan Pathan went for Rs 1 cr. Mitchell Marsh, Pune’s most expensive buy, sold for a whopping Rs 4.8 cr.
The Supergiants have made clever purchases; two all-rounders, a batsman and a bowler. We think the bowlers and all-rounders will be valuable additions to a team of largely batsmen.
In the uncapped category, Pune made a number of smaller buys, and have bagged Rajat Bhatia, RP Singh, Ishwar Chandra Pandey and Ankit Sharma. Two more bowlers and two all-rounders. Looks good to us!
