Star Hockey Striker Mohammad Shahid Hospitalised in Gurgaon

Hockey India has offered full support to the triple Olympian’s family.

Member of India’s last Olympic gold-medal winning hockey team, Mohammad Shahid has been admitted to the intensive care unit at Gurgaon’s Medanta hospital.

56-year-old Shahid had been recovering from jaundice over the last month and was shifted from Varanasi on Wednesday.

According News18 Sports, doctors at Medanta have put the triple Olympian under observation for three days, following which it will be decided whether he needs a liver transplant or not.

The 1981 Arjuna Award winner is a Railways employee but if it comes to a liver transplant, he might need some financial support.

Hockey India has offered full support to his family.

I have assured them of a completely free-of-cost treatment at the Batra Hospital, if they wish to transfer Shahid there. Otherwise also, we are there to support the family in whatever is required.
