Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar finds himself in a social media storm after he receiving flak from players and fans for his 'biased' criticism of players who are in England and Wales for the ongoing World Cup.

Since India's loss to England in the World Cup, the former cricketer has been vocal in his criticism of a few players, including the seasoned Mahendra Singh Dhoni and opener K L Rahul. The Mumbaikar recently referred to Ravindra Jadeja as a 'bits and pieces player'.

The comment did not go down well with Jadeja, who took to Twitter to express his anger.

"Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I am still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea," Jadeja wrote.

Majrekar was topping the Twitter trends chart on Tuesday, 2 July, as the fans urged Star Sports to sack him from commentary panel. So much so, that a fan wrote to ICC expressing his displeasure.

Manjrekar had called Dhoni's approach in the match against England "baffling" and also questioned Rahul's performance as an opener.

Regarding Dhoni, Manjrekar had tweeted after the England game, "Here's something interesting about Dhoni -. 41 off 87 balls v spin this WC. But in the warm up games 69 off 56 balls v spin. That tells me it's mental too. He does not put his wicket on the line as much in the big games." The former batsman also had his take after India's win against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

A few days ago, Yuvraj Singh took a veiled jibe at Manjrekar over his retirement wishes, saying, "Thanks Sanjay I'm sure some time critics get the best out of you ! Cheers. (sic)"

Even Kieron Pollard lost his cool once.

Manjrekar also engaged in a spat with Michael Vaughan earlier this year. He tried to thrash Trevor Bayliss's observation of England player Sam Curran.

“Trevor Bayliss said that Sam Curran has endured the first bad game of his career. Curran has 15 wickets in 15 innings. So it’s more his batting Bayliss is talking about…Curran bats at no 8 & 9. Highlights the flawed thinking & approach of England,” Manjrekar has tweeted.

Vaughan shot back at him, saying, "The same flawed thinking that beat India 4-1 Sanjay ..(sic)”

But it seems that the former Indian cricketer sees another reality on the social media.
