MS Dhoni, seen here batting during the first ODI between India and Australia, was quick to assume driver duties as Team India arrived in his hometown, Ranchi.

The Indian cricket team has arrived in the land of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The JSCA Stadium in Ranchi hosts the third ODI of the ongoing series between India and Australia, and the former captain took no time in assuming driver duties for his Team India mates as they reached his hometown.

Dhoni, the senior-most member of the present Indian setup, was captured getting ready to drive some of his teammates in one of his many cars as soon as they stepped out of the airport upon arrival in Ranchi.

Jharkhand’s capital city has been buzzing ever since the third game of the five-match ODI series was awarded to it, with an entire city awaiting a glimpse of its most celebrated icon.

The BCCI’s social media team got in on the act as well, teeing up the son of the soil to Ranchi upon the team’s arrival from Nagpur.

Emotions can be expected to be at fever pitch come matchday on Friday, 8 March, with this likely to be the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman’s final international appearance at his home turf.

Dhoni, who turns 38 in July, is widely expected to hang up his boots after the ICC World Cup 2019 in England – where fans are hoping the veteran can play a telling hand in guiding India to its third World Cup title.

The fervour gets further increased as India could seal a series win over the Aussies with a victory at Ranchi. The hosts lead the five-match contest 2-0, having registered hard-fought wins at Hyderabad and Nagpur.
