Indian wrestling superstar Vinesh Phogat stunned on the red carpet of the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco on Monday, 18 February.
India’s highest-ranked female wrestler, Vinesh was nominated in the ‘Comeback of the Year’ category for her major achievements in 2018. After an injury in the quarter-finals of the Rio Olympics in 2016, Vinesh was forced to undergo an operation on her knee and then made a successful comeback last season with gold medals in the Asian Games as well as the Commonwealth Games.
Though the award was eventually won by Tiger Woods for his US Tour Championship win, Vinesh still carries the unique accomplishment of being the first Indian – male or female – to be nominated in an individual category at the Laureus Awards.

The wrestling star attended the event in Monaco with her husband Somvir Rathee and was styled by Sana Jaisingh.
