On Sunday, Dhawan was hit on the thumb by a rising delivery from Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile during the first innings. However, playing through the pain he scored a century against Australia.
Unfortunately, reports coming in from England suggest Dhawan has been ruled out of the World Cup for three weeks as he seems to have fractured his thumb.
Dhawan will undergo precautionary scans on Tuesday to determine the extent of injury on his swollen left thumb.
Earlier, on Sunday Dhawan scored a century against Australia.
“We are happy with the result as it was a great team effort. It’s a great sign for our team and I’m happy with this man of the match award. We are very happy with the performance overall,” said Dhawan after the match against Australia.
