Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, took the country by storm when it released earlier this year.
The film, which shed light on India’s prominent rap scene and brought it into mainstream limelight, has resonated with youngsters across the country – and teen-aged cricket sensation Prithvi Shaw is among them.
In an Instagram video that is doing the rounds, Shaw can be seen shaking a leg to an Emiway Bantai song, called Bohot Hard, in a clothing store.
19-year-old Shaw has not held back from using Gully Boy references in his Instagram captions. On 1 March, he uploaded a photo with Indian cricketers MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and captioned it, “Yeh BHAI log jaisa koi Hard ich nahi hai”.
But that’s not all. Earlier, on 30 January, the young cricketer made an attempt to write a Gully inspired rap, using the film’s iconic phrase, “Apna time aayega”.
