A well organised Mumbai Indians side got the better off Delhi Capitals in their own backyard by 40 runs to jump to second position in IPL points table on Thursday.
Having posted a total of 168, thanks to Pandya get together, Mumbai’s bowling attack went in hard and resolute against the Delhi batting lineup to restrict them to 128/9 in their 20 overs.
Rahul Chahar (3/19) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18 were the pick among the Mumbai bowlers.
Earlier with the bat, Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock provided MI with a good start adding 57 runs off 43 balls for the first wicket. At one stage, MI were struggling at 104/4.
From there, it were the Pandya brothers, who once again came to the rescue of Mumbai and added a quickfire 54 off 26 balls. While Hardik smashed 32 off 15 (2X4’s, 3X6’s), Krunal made 37 off 26 (5X4’s) deliveries.
And fans on Twitter couldn’t stop talking about the heroics of the Pandya brothers.
Chasing a total of 169 on home ground was not a big ask for Delhi, but the Mumbai Indians’ bowling department had it all planned out well.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithwi Shaw added 49 for the first wicket but after Chahar got Dhawan out, the wickets kept on tumbling for Delhi at regular intervals. As Delhi ONE again witnessed a batting collapse, Twitter again got a golden opportunity to criticise the side.
