‘Nation Knows That!’ CSK Trolls Republic TV For Speculation on MSD

Every day that MS Dhoni continues to maintain a silence on the future of his international cricket career is now turning out to provide fodder for speculation and ‘inside reports’ about what he could be doing.

While even on Wednesday the former Indian skipper said at an event in Mumbai that he did not want to be asked about his plans till January, reports had emerged earlier in the day that he had had a word with his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings about his future plans.

A report in Republic TV’s website suggested that Dhoni had proposed to his franchise owners that he be released into the auction pool ahead of the 2021 IPL auction. They further added that Dhoni had suggested this so they could use the ‘Right to Match’ card to buy him back, for a much lower sum than is currently his salary from the franchise.

While this did lead to a lot of speculation about MSD’s future in the yellow jersey, his franchise’s Twitter handle shut down all reports with a single Tweet.

“No, the nation knows that!”

Meaning no, MS Dhoni wont be leaving the franchise.

On Wednesday in Mumbai, MS Dhoni was attending an event for a watch brand when he was about to be asked about his plans when the former skipper said, "January tak mat poocho (don't ask me till January).

Dhoni has been on a sabbatical since India's semifinal exit from the ODI World Cup in England in July. He has missed the tour of the West Indies and the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh.

The 38-year-old, who captains Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, will miss the limited-overs home assignment against the West Indies starting December 6 and comprising three T20 Internationals and an equal number of one-dayers.
