Arjun Tendulkar selected for U 19 team. Twitter sends good wishes. But also takes sides: Nepotism or not

Arjun Tendulkar has been selected for the India U-19 team which will be playing against Sri Lanka in July. The team will be traveling to Sri Lanka for four ODIs and two four-day matches from 11 July to 11 August. Arjun Tendulkar has been selected only for two four-day matches. On one hand, Twitter praised the budding cricketer, on the other hand, it also raised issues of nepotism.

We are happy on Arjun being selected in Indian under 19 team. It is an important milestone in his cricketing life. Anjali and I will always support Arjun in his choices and pray for his success

Arjun Tendulkar is all set to play Under-19 cricket for India. Interestingly, his father, Sachin Tendulkar never played any age group cricket for India!

The Nepotism Debate

@congusmaximus Does Arjun Tendulkar belong in the team? I mean is his selection debatable or is it blatant nepotism?

Nepotism is an overused and abused word. Give Arjun Tendulkar a chance to fail, first! If your own parent has a significant influence in the field that you want to enter, obviously you and your parent will try to use that influence to get easy entry into that field.

Arjun Tendulkar gets picked for India U19s. Those who cry nepotism, there is a difference. Arjun will live and fall by his performances, which will be in the public forum. If her performs he will keep getting picked. If not he will hv to find anr career.
