Jaipur Pink Panthers lost to UMumba 32-39 in their season opener on Wednesday at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in Chennai to get their campaign of to a disappointing start in the sixth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
The Pink Panthers, who won the inaugural edition in 2013, were the only in team in Zone A of the competition who were yet to play their first match.
In a thriller of a tie, U Mumba made a strong comeback after they were held by Puneri Paltan on the opening night of the season. Jaipur Pink Panthers squandered a healthy first half advantage to begin with a loss. Mumbai’s Siddharth Desai, with 13 raid points, was the star of the match. For the Pink Panthers Anup Kumar had a quiet start as he scored just four points and Deepak Hooda too disappointed with just two points.
Actor Abhishek Bachchan, the owner of the Jaipur franchisee, was their in the stands to cheer for his team as they went down in the close encounter. Abhishek, who religiously attends all the matches of the Pink Panthers wasn’t alone for his side’s opener. His wife, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and their daughter Aardhyaa, was also there to give him company.
