Indian cricketer and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has become the latest cricketer to pop the question. On Sunday, the opening batsman announced on twitter that he was engaged to longtime friend Ritika Sajdeh.
The 28-year-old dashing batsman proposed to Ritika, also 28, at the Borivali Sports Club in Mumbai, where he began his cricketing career.
“From best friends to soulmates, couldn’t get any better,” Rohit wrote on his twitter handle and also uploaded a photograph of him and his lady love, wearing a solitaire.
The couple are reported to have known each other for years. Ritika, 28-year-old sports manager, has been working with him for past six years now.
After Rohit tweeted the good news out on Sunday morning, fellow cricketers were quick to send out their congratulations. Among the first was Yuvraj Singh.
Dinesh Karthik, who himself is expected to get married to his fiancé Dipika Pallikal sometime this year, also tweeted to the happy couple.
While Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s twitter account showed no activity, it was his wife Sakshi instead who sent out the congratulatory message from the family instead.
