The wife of Queens Park Rangers defender Rio Ferdinand has died following a short battle with cancer.
The former England and Manchester United player announced on the QPR website that Rebecca Ferdinand died on Friday night at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
She was a fantastic loving mother to our three beautiful children ... she will live on in our memory, as a guide and inspiration.

Ferdinand thanked his family, friends and QPR colleagues who have “rallied around in these desperate days, weeks and months” and the medics whose “valiant efforts to prolong Rebecca’s all-too-short life will not be forgotten.”
No age was provided for Rebecca Ferdinand in the statement.
Ferdinand joined QPR from Manchester United last year.
