UP Yoddha outclassed the Tamil Thalaivas 37-33 in the Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5 on Wednesday to remain on course for qualifying to the super play-offs. On the other hand, another defeat for the Tamil Thalaivas’ means that their hopes of making the super play-offs have all but ended.
UP Yoddha are now third in Zone B with 54 points from 19 matches, while the Tamil Thalaivas are rooted to the bottom of the table with 34 points from 18 matches.
Captain Nitin Tomar starred for UP Yoddha, conducting 22 raids and winning 12 points for his team. Besides Tomar, Tamil Thalaivas captain Ajay Thakur and his teammate K Prapanjan completed their Super Ten in raiding on Wednesday.
Prapanjan supported his captain Ajay Thakur, while Nitin Tomar got excellent support from his teammate Rishank Devadiga.
Ajay was tackled in a raid in the dying moments of the game, ending all chances of Tamil Thalaivas’ chances at winning the match. UP Yoddha was able to inflict All Out on two occasions and this helped it to increase its lead. An All Out in the 16th minute helped UP extend their lead to 16-12.
At half-time UP Yoddha had a lead of only only five points (20-15) over Tamil Thalaivas and eventually won the game 37-33.
In the second half of the game, UP Yoddha captain Nitin Tomar and his Tamil counterpart Ajay Thakur both won seven points each for their respective teams.
