Pro Kabaddi’s Biggest-Ever Buy, Nitin Tomar Bought For Rs 93 Lakh

Nitin Tomar made history on Monday after he was bought for the highest-ever price in the Pro Kabaddi League auction by Uttar Pradesh.

Bought for a whopping Rs 93 lakh by the GMR-owned side on Day 1 of the auctions, he surpassed fellow raider Rohit Kumar, who was scalped by Bengaluru Bulls for Rs 81 lakh.

The 22-year-old was part of the Puneri Paltan team in the fourth edition of the league.

1. Hails From UP

Nitin Tomar is from Uttar Pradesh and therefore it will be a very proud moment for him, since his home team has believed in him and bought him for a huge price.

The all-rounder, who has a defence services background, burst into the kabaddi scene through the Pro Kabaddi League.

He has been part of Bengal Warriors and Puneri Paltan set-up in the past.

2. Part of World Cup Winning India Team

Tomar was part of the gold-medal-winning Indian team at the Kabaddi World Cup last year. India clinched their third World Cup title after beating Iran 38-29 in the final in Ahmedabad.

Tomar was the second-highest scorer for India with 6 points in the final. Ajay Thakur scored 12 points for the side.

3. Excellent Pro Kabaddi League Record

In the 22 matches that he has played in the league, Tomar has scored 115 points, out of which 110 have been raid points and 5 have been defence points.

He has carried out 98 successful raids and 4 successful tackles. And he has not received a single card – green, red and yellow – in the league so far.

5. Highest Bid Increases by 626%

The highest bid in this season has increased by 626 percent compared to the highest bid in the first season.

Rakesh Kumar was bought by the Patna Pirates for Rs 12.8 lakh in 2014.
