With four medals assured, four Indian boxers will be competing in their semi-finals for a spot in the final of their respective categories at the Women’s World Championships on 22 and 23 November.
Star boxer, and India’s biggest hope of winning a gold, MC Mary Kom became the most successful pugilist in the tournament’s history by assuring herself a seventh medal after a 5-0 win over China’s Wu Yu in the light flyweight (48kg) category.
Three more Indians – Lovlina Borgohain (69kg), Sonia Chahal (57kg) and Simranjit Kaur (64kg) – reached the semi-finals and are assured of their maiden medals.
