India’s woes at the shooting ranges continue to haunt them at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as the duo of Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat failed to progress from the qualifiers in the Women’s 25m Pistol event on Friday.

While Manu finished 15th, Rahi finished 32nd after the Precision and Rapid rounds in the qualifiers from where only the top 8 qualify for the medal round.

Manu finished with scores of 292 and 290 in the Precision and Rapid rounds respectively, Rahi registered scores of 287 and 286.

Before beginning the Rapid round on Friday, Manu was placed fifth in the overall standings with a score of 292/300 in Thursday’s precision round while Rahi started from her overnight position of 25th with 287 points.

Manu shot 96, 97 and 97 in her three series and totalled 290/300. With a total score of 582/600, she missed the final qualification mark by just two points.

Meanwhile, Rahi scored 286 in the rapid round to finish with a final score of 573 in the qualifying round.

Manu and Rahi's exit means India's pistol shooters’ campaign at Tokyo 2020 is over. Any medal hopes for India in shooting now rests on the men’s and women’s 50m rifle 3 positions shooters.
