Remember the surprise pick for India’s World T20 team? Well, Delhi went all out and bagged him for a staggering Rs 8.50 cr! We’ll do the math for you; it’s 28 times his base price!

Karun Nair

Karun Nair hasn’t seen his best days on the pitch recently. However, the auction may well have altered his fortunes. Nair, for whom bidding began at Rs 10 lakh, was bagged by Delhi Daredevils for a whopping 4 cr! 40 time his base price! Baffled? Yeah, us too.

Nathu Singh

Heard of him right? We thought not. Nathu Singh bagged 14 wickets in India’s domestic T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Bidding may have begun at Rs 10 lakh, but the Mumbai Indians didn’t get him cheap. He was bagged for a whopping Rs 3.20 cr.

Mohit Sharma

The CSK sensation hasn’t been able to find a place in a team because of his injury-riddled season. However this hasn’t affected his IPL buzz. Kings XI Punjab shelled out as much as Rs 6.50 cr for the fast bowler.

Chris Morris

Bids for the South African all rounder began at Rs 50 Lakh. No one dreamed that he would end up bagging a whooping Rs 7cr bid from Delhi Daredevils. Chris Morris has had a spectacular IPL in 2015 at the now defunct Rajasthan Royals, bagging 13 wickets for the team.

When the Chennai cricketer made his debut on 2 January 2016, he wouldnt have dreamt that he’d be this much in demand at the auctions. Even though Pune bagged heavyweights like Kevin Pietersen, Irfan Pathan and Ishant Sharma, this uncapped spinner managed to be Pune’s second most expensive buy. He sold for Rs 4.5 cr, just behind Mitchel Marsh.

Carlos Brathwaite

The West Indian all-rounder was initially priced at Rs 30 Lakh. However, he joins the list of Caribbean players entertaining Indian cricket fans at IPL, bagging a massive Rs 4.20 cr from the Delhi Daredevils.

Deepak Hooda

Hooda attracted a fair amount of attention as a middle order batsman for the Rajasthan Royals. He will be under greater scrutiny now, given that he was bagged by Sun Risers Hyderbad for Rs 1.40 cr. Bidding for Hooda began at Rs 10 lakh.
