2020 IPL Auction: 7 Players List Their Base Price at Rs 2 Crore

971 players have registered for the 2020 IPL auction that’s set to take place on 19 December in Kolkata. 73 spots are up for grabs and the franchises have until 5 p.m., 9 December to submit their shortlist of players that will make the final auction list.

Of the 713 Indian and 258 overseas players who have submitted their names for the auction, 7 have placed their base price at Rs 2 crore.

While the list comprises of no Indian, there are 5 Australians who have gone for the maximum base price:

  1. Glenn Maxwell (Aus)
  2. Chris Lynn (Aus)
  3. Pat Cummins (Aus)
  4. Josh Hazlewood (Aus)
  5. Mitchell Marsh (Aus)
  6. Dale Steyn (SA)
  7. Angelo Mathews (SA)

Australia pace spearhead Mitchell Starc however opted out for a second successive year. The 29-year-old last featured in the IPL in 2015 when he represented Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 2018 IPL auction, the left-arm quick had been signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.4 crore, but was unavailable for the entire tournament because of an injury.

Earlier this year, Starc was recovering from injury ahead of the IPL 2019 auction and had opted out to give priority to Australia's World Cup campaign.

England's Test captain Joe Root is another notable absentee from the auction pool of 971 players.

Among other overseas big names in the auction list is South Africa pacer Chris Morris, who became the only retained player in 2018 to be released ahead of the upcoming auction.
