He was handed the ball in another pressure situation, and once again Jasprit Bumrah delivered.

In the Super Over on Thursday, 2 May at the Wankhede Stadium, the Mumbai Indians bowler restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 8/2, bagging the wickets of Manish Pandey and Mohammed Nabi.

Hardik Pandya hammered Rashid Khan for a six over long off in the first ball and then Kieron Pollard took the side home with three balls to spare.

Talking about delivering in such tight situations, Bumrah said, “Sometimes the mind can get too negative but I try to focus on the ball I have to bowl and try to keep clarity and keep it as simple as possible”.

There is always pressure but you don’t try to think about the pressure. Whenever I feel pressure, I try to think of what the team needs me to do. I focus on one ball at a time.

“I always talk to Lasith and Rohit because they’ve played for so many years and faced a lot of pressure situations. They try to guide us but in the end it’s your own decision because backing your own decision is always the best way to go. Backing myself has always helped me,” said the bowler.

With this win, Mumbai Indians became the third team after Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals to qualify for the IPL playoffs.
