Playing for a place in qualifier 2 against Chennai Super Kings, DC won by two wickets with one ball remaining.
However a more inspiring story came from the Hyderabad camp. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Khaleel Ahmed took the field on Wednesday while also keeping up their Ramadan fasting.
All three of them gave their hearts in a close defeat against Delhi. While both Khaleel and Rashid got two wickets each, senior Afghanistan all-rounder scored 20 runs and also completed his quota of four overs.
Delhi opener, Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t resist but applaud the effort and took to Twitter to post a post-game photo with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi.
“Wishing everyone #RamadanKareem. So proud of them! It is not easy to fast the whole day & then play the match. But they make it look effortless! An inspiration for their country & the world cricket! Your energy motivates everyone to dream big. May Allah's blessings be with you!” wrote the 33-year-old on Twitter.
Chasing 163, Dhawan combined with Prithvi Shaw to provide a swift start to Delhi by adding 66 for the first wicket.
Delhi will now face CSK on Friday at the same venue.
