Delhi Daredevils: 164/4 (Sanju Samson 60, JP Duminy 49 Not Out, Mitchell McClenaghan 2/31) beat Mumbai Indians: 154/7 (Rohit Sharma 65, Amit Mishra 2/24) by 10 Runs.
Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and elected to field against Delhi Daredevils (DD). Mumbai played an unchanged squad while for the home team Carlos Brathwaite misses out making way for Imran Tahir.
Nor a perfect shot for Delhi as they lost their opener Quinton de Kock on the last ball of the second over.
Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson tried pacing the innings, but the former again fell cheaply while Karun Nair who in came in next too walked out after facing just five deliveries.
21 year old Sanju Samson was the only one who held on to the crease and scored 60 of 47 deliveries for Delhi Daredevils.
Coupled JP Duminy’s 49, Delhi Daredevils managed to put up a respectable 164/4 on the board.
Mumbai Indians stared their chase strongly despite losing Parthiv Patel (run-out) for a duck.
Captain Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu gave Mumbai a stable start after the early blow, adding 62 runs to the board. Rayudu was bowled by spinner Amit Mishra.
Later Krunal Pandya’s attacking game play created quite a few problems for the Zaheer Khan led Delhi bowling line up. He was however unfortunately run out by the DD captain for 36 runs of just 17 deliveries.
Jos Buttler, who came in next also departed cheaply, courtesy a brilliant Amit Mishra delivery.
Things here became a little difficult for Mumbai as the required run rate peeped up to around 13 runs per over.
With 21 required of the last over, Rohit Sharma started the over with a bang, but a horrible mix up and a mid pitch collusion resulted in a unfortunate run out for the skipper and thus ending all hopes for Mumbai. Harbhajan Singh who came in next, was also dismissed for a duck.
In the end, Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians by 10 Runs
