German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger announced his retirement from international football on Friday, saying he was disappointed to have not finished his career with a win at Euro 2016 in France.

Bastian Schweinsteiger wrote on Twitter

The 31-year-old, who played 120 matches for Germany, is one of the most capped players for his country. The mid-fielder played five matches in the Euro 2016 before Germany lost to France in the semi-finals.

The former Bayern Munich player finished his career with one World Cup title (2014), silver medal at Euro 2008 and two third place finishes at the 2006 and 2010 World Cup respectively.
