India’s Under-17 WC Players From Manipur Felicitated by CM and Guv

Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla and Chief Minister N Biren Singh felicitated the eight players of the state who were part of India's Under-17 FIFA World Cup team.

During her interaction with the players and their parents, the governor expressed her happiness and said she felt proud that so many players in India’s 21-man squad, including the captain, were all from Manipur.

The eight who featured in India’s squad for the Under-17 World Cup are captain Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem, Boris Singh Thangjam, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, Nongdamba Naorem, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Ningthoinganba Meitei and Md. Shah Jahan

The CM also congratulated the parents for supporting their children to play the game and encouraged the young stars to continue playing the sport and possibly even play for the senior national team someday.

The chief minister handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh each to all the eight players at the state secretariat. The cash rewards were earlier announced by the state government in recognition to the hard work, achievement and performance of the players.
