Google Kicks Off Women’s World Cup 2019 With Innovative Doodle

Google kicks off the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup by releasing a unique Google Doodle. The Google Doodle has an illustration of women representing different teams in the World Cup, along with Google written in bold in green.

If you click on the doodle, it will redirect you to the schedule of the matches for the next 30 days.

The World Cup, being held in France, will have 24 countries competing, with Chile, Scotland, South Africa, Jamaica making their debut.

The first match will be held between host nation France and South Korea in Paris today. The official mascot of the tournament is Ettie, the French poussin.

“Each Doodle will capture the local excitement of the World Cup competition as well as what soccer means to the guest artist personally,” Google explained.

This is the first Women’s World Cup to use the video assistant referee (VAR) system.

The doodle represents national teams of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada Chile , China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Scotland, South Africa, South Korea, Spain,Sweden, Thailand and the United States illustrated by Xoana Herrera, Sophie Beer, Laura Lannes, Lisa Feng, and many more artists.
