Unai Emery, Arsene Wenger’s replacement at the Emirates after the Frenchman’s 22 seasons at the helm, will begin his Gunners tenure against record-breaking Premier League champions Manchester City. His second weekend in charge will see him face off against FA Cup winners Chelsea.
City won the title last season by 19 points, and were the first team to breach 100 points in the Premier League. Challengers to the crown look forward to their first steps after the fixtures for the 2018/19 season were announced on 14 June.
The Premier League season starts on 11 August.
UEFA Champions League finalists Liverpool will chase domestic success under new coach Manuel Pellegrini, starting at home against West Ham United.
Tottenham Hotspur play three of their first four games away as their home ground White Hart Lane is being rebuilt.
The Manchester clubs, which finished 1 and 2 in the standings, will have an easy start to the season on paper. City face Arsenal and United face Tottenham in the only top-of-table opposition they will see in their first 7 weeks.
Chelsea travel to Huddersfield on opening weekend, before hosting Arsenal on 18 August in the second week.
