The Athletics Federation of India announced that with a throw of 62.62 metres, the 2014 Asian Games champion in women’s discus throw, Seema Antil-Punia has earned a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics. She also won the the Gold medal at the Pat Young Throwers Classic in California on Sunday.

The 2014 Common Wealth Games silver medalist’s throw was more than a metre ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games qualification mark of 61 metres.

Seema also left behind 2008 Olympic champion Stephanie Brown Trafton, who won the Silver with a throw of 60.50 metres. The Indian discus champion has also won back-to-back medals in the previous three Common Wealth Games since 2006 and finished 12th in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
