Indian cricket administer and IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla has spoken out about India and Pakistan’s cricket ties after the Pulwama attack last week.

Over 40 CRPF personnel were killed on 14 February, when a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Pulwama.

When asked about Imran Khan’s posters being removed from the cricket stadiums in Mohali and Mumbai, Shukla said this was for people to express their anger following what is being called the deadliest terrorist strike in three decades in Jammu and Kashmir.

“This is the outrage of the people which is reflecting in this way. Pakistan should be wary of these things and should not support terrorism, that’s what we’ve been saying from day one. When our Government was there we gave tonnes of evidence and documents to Pakistan about their involvement. Obviously sports should be above all these things but if somebody is sponsoring terrorism, it is quite obvious it will effect sports also,” said Shukla.

When asked if this could affect the India vs Pakistan fixture at this summer’s World Cup, Sukla said, “We can’t say anything about that right now. The World Cup is far away. Lets see what happens. Our position and policy is very clear. Unless the Government gives us a nod we are not going to play with Pakistan.”
