Prithvi Shaw is returning to match-fitness following his doping ban by representing Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Other cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have also been involved in the domestic T20 competition.
In the final group game of the tournament between Mumbai and Punjab, Prithvi led Punjab to a mammoth total of 243 runs with 53 runs in just 27 balls. Mumbai then went on to defeat Punjab by 22 runs.
During the game, BCCI’s Domestic cricket handle tweeted out a picture of Shaw’s bat, where you could spot an autograph of Virat Kohli along with a message.
The message reads ‘Dear Prithvi, enjoy the game and good luck’ followed by Kohli’s signature.
The Indian skipper has been taking on greater leadership roles in the Indian dressing room especially after MS Dhoni’s recent sabbatical.
Kohli will be leading India into their upcoming series against West Indies. The announced squad does not feature Shaw, who is just returning from his doping ban.
Shaw has averaged 48 runs across 5 games in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and will have to fight back to earn his place in the national team once again.
