The New Zealand women's cricket team scored the highest ODI total in the history of cricket against Ireland at the YMCA Cricket Club in Dublin on Friday. New Zealand posted 490/4 in their allotted 50 overs, surpassing the previous highest score of 444/3 in 50 overs by the England men's team against Pakistan at Nottingham on 30 August 30 in 2016.

Batting first, captain Suzie Bates scored 151 runs off 94 balls during the innings. Bates hit 24 boundaries and two sixes and put up a 172-run stand with opener Jess Watkin (62). Watkin also struck 10 boundaries in her composed 59-ball knock.

Number three batter Maddy Green carried on the good work put on by the Kiwi openers and scored 121 runs off 77 balls, which included 15 boundaries and a six.

Middle-order batter Amelia Kerr also shone with the bat as she scored an unbeaten 81. She slammed nine boundaries and three sixes in her 45-ball knock.

Amy Satterthwaite, who replaced Bates at the end of the 30th over, will feel she missed out after registering just 21 off 18 balls while wicketkeeper Bernadine Bezuidenhout finished unbeaten on 23.

For Ireland women, Cara Murray led their bowling attack as she took two wickets. However, she conceded 119 runs in her 10-over spell that made her the most expensive bowler in the history of ODI cricket.
