According to the new ICC rules, which will come into effect on Thursday, 28 September, a player can be sent off for a case of serious bad behaviour on the field.

If a cricketer intimidates an umpire, or threatens to assault a player, a team official or a spectator, the concerned cricketer will be sent off for a certain number of overs, depending on the format of the match.

Under the new rules, players will be reprimanded for any violence they commit on the field by being sent off. The player’s team will be penalised 5 runs.

Do you think the ICC has made the right call by introducing the send-off rule?
