India’s former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who turned 37 on 7 July, celebrated his birthday in the United Kingdom – where Team India is playing a three match T20 international series with England.
On the eve of his birthday, Dhoni became only the third Indian cricketer to have played 500 international matches.
Wishes poured in for ‘Captain Cool’ from his fans, his former and present teammates.
A fan account of Dhoni posted a video in which he can be seen cutting the birthday cake joined by his wife Sakshi and his adorable daughter Ziva. His teammates can be seen singing the birthday song.
Current captain Virat Kohli posted a photo on his official Instagram account of himself and wife Anushka Sharma with the birthday boy saying, “Happy Birthday Mahi Bhai. God bless you.”
Former Indian cricketer and commentator VVS Laxman wished him well in a special post that read: “May you continue to entertain, inspire and provide joy.”
Umesh Yadav and Deepak Chahar clicked selfies with Dhoni.
“Happy Birthday to the legend,” Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings colleague Suresh Raina posted.
