An Under-19 cricket World Cup added to his resume, Indian cricketer Manjot Kalra said he now dreams of becoming a part of the senior team. The opening batsman’s unbeaten century against Australia, helped India clinch their fourth U-19 World Cup title in New Zealand on 3 February.

“IPL was a distraction during the World Cup,” Kalra told reporters after returning to his hometown in Delhi. The 19-year-old, who was bagged by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 20 lakh for the upcoming IPL season, said coach Rahul Dravid had told them not to follow the event too much.

When asked how he feels about being compared to the star cricketers Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh, the young cricketer said, “Virat and Yuvraj are legends, I can’t be compared to them. I can’t do anything if they’re comparing me to them. Just want to say, don’t do it”.

What’s next for Manjot Kalra? “I will try my best to make it to the knockout stage of Vijay Hazare trophy and then prepare for the IPL,” said the 19-year-old batsman.
