It’s a wrap at the IPL 2018 auction Day 1. It was an action-packed day at Bengaluru with some big moolahs being spent. Ben Stokes remains the most expensive player in the auction so far with Chris Gayle going unsold. The Pandya brothers too racked in big money with Afghan spinner Rashid Khan bagging 9 crore. While Gautam Gambhir comes back to Delhi Daredevils, Ashwin will have to make his way out of Chennai to Punjab.
The teams went all guns blazing for the players who held most value for them. Day 2 will see the owners giving final shape to their teams with the money that is left.
Here’s a look at the money left with the teams, out of a surplus of 80 crore, after the first day of the auction:
Chennai Super Kings: 17 Crore
CSK have 11 players in the team at the end of Day 1 with 4 overseas players.
Delhi Daredevils: 12.3 Crore
DD have 15 players at the end of Day 1, with 5 overseas players.
Kings XI Punjab: 21.9 Crore
KXIP have a total of 10 players at the end of Day 1. Out of these, 3 are overseas players.
Kolkata Knight Riders: 7.6 Crore
KKR has 12 players at the end of Day 1. Out of these 4 are overseas players.
Mumbai Indians: 15.8 Crore
MI have 9 players in the team so far. Out of these, 3 are overseas players.
Rajasthan Royals: 23.5 Crore
RR too have 9 players at the end of Day 1. Out of these, 5 are overseas players.
Royal Challengers Bangalore: 15.85 Crore
RCB has a total of 14 players after Day 1 of IPL Auction 2018. Out of these, 6 are overseas players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 7.95 Crore
Sunrisers have bought the highest number of players on Day 1. The number stands at 16 currently with 5 overseas players.
