Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan sustained an injury on his face and was taken off the field during his side's IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the 13th over during RCB’s innings. Kohli played a pull shot off Jasprit Bumrah which Hardik fielded and threw back. The throw bounced high off the practice pitch area and hit Kishan near his right eye. Kishan was seen writhing in pain while lying on the ground when the MI medical staff attended to him.

Fortunately, as per Rohit Sharma, Kishan should be 'okay by tomorrow or day after'.

It was very unfortunate. I haven’t checked on him because after the presentation got over I came here (for the press conference). But he seems to be alright. He has some swelling under his eyes which, I guess, should be okay by tomorrow or day after.

The 19-year-old Patna-born wicketkeeper was immediately taken off the field and replaced by Aditya Tare, who kept wickets for the rest of the match.

We’ve got a few days before we play the next match. I think 22nd is when we’re playing. So, we have three-four days in between where we can assess and hopefully he’ll be fine.

Mumbai Indians, who won their first game of the season on Tuesday against RCB, will travel to Jaipur for their next game against Rajasthan Royals. If Kishan fails to recover and is unavailable for the next game, Tare could get the nod with the Mumbaikar being the only other wicket-keeping option for the team.
