England drew level in the three-match ODI series against India when, following their defeat in the series opener at Trent Bridge, they returned the favour by defeating the visitors by 86 runs at the Lord's Cricket Ground on Saturday, 14 July.

After being put in to bat, England rode on Joe Root's 113 and contributions from captain Eoin Morgan and David Willey to post a healthy 322-7. In their defence of the runs on the board, they picked up three early wickets and pushed India on the back foot very early in the run-chase. Thereafter, once the 80-run fourth-wicket partnership between Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina was broken, the match was pretty much in the home team's kitty.

The Indian team were bowled out on the last ball of their 50 overs; Virat Kohli’s side only managed to get as far as 236.

Here's documenting some of the major milestones which were reached during the match:

  • When he reached the score of 33, MS Dhoni became the 4th Indian cricketer (and 12th player overall) to score 10,000 runs in ODIs.

  • David Willey's 50 would be his first half-century in ODIs. It would also be only the second half-century by a batsman batting at number eight in ODIs played at the Lord's Cricket Ground; the only other batsman to score a half-century batting at number eight was Alan Knott, who made 50 against England in the very first ODI played at Lord's in 1972.
  • England won the match by 86 runs; the margin of their win would rank as the 4th biggest win in ODIs at the Lord's Cricket Ground.
