How Will India Fare at the South African Fortress in Centurion?

The Supersport Park in Centurion, home to the Titans, has been one of the happy hunting grounds for the South African team.

One of the newer Test venues in South Africa, the Supersport Park, formerly known as Centurion Park, hosted its first Test match in 1995 against England.

Out of the 22 Test matches held at Supersport Park, the Proteas have won a whopping 17 Tests. Only three matches have been drawn and two lost.

England has been the most successful visitor at the Supersport Park, winning one, drawing three, and losing only one Test match here. The only other visiting team to win a Test at Centurion is the Australian team under Micheal Clarke that toured South Africa in 2014.

India has played only one Test at the Supersport Park in 2010, which they lost by an innings and 25 runs.

India may have got the drubbing of their life on this ground, but it will always remain special for Indian cricket fans, as Sachin Tendulkar brought up his 50th Test century on this ground when he scored 111 unbeaten in the second innings of the match.

As expected, the highest score on this ground belongs to South Africa, when they scored 620/4 against India. On the other hand, India’s 459 in the second innings of the same match is the highest by any visiting team.

Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers are the only batsmen, aside from Jacques Kallis, who have more than 1,000 Test runs at Supersport Park. Kallis leads the charts, scoring 1,267 runs. Amla is second on the list with 1,202 runs and has a staggering average of 80, along with five centuries and five half-centuries. The highest individual score in Test on this ground of 208* also belongs to Amla.

Steyn, Ntini and Kallis have been the pick of the bowlers at this ground. With 56 scalps, Steyn leads the charge. Kyle Abott came up with the best bowling figures of 29/7 against Pakistan in 2013.
