Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun found himself in the middle of controversy when he was picked for the West Zone Under-16 team and comparisons rose between him and Pranav Dhanawade, the wonder boy who had scored 1,000 runs, who was not picked for the team.

Pranav’s coach has now come forward to clear the air and said that the comparisons between the young boys is completely unfair, reports CricLife.

People reacted to the story which surfaced online that Arjun was picked due to his legacy while Pranav was rejected for his poorer background.

But, Dhanawade’s father Prashant came out and said that the team was picked from the MCA U-16 team which Arjun was a part of, while Pranav was not involved in the same and hence was ineligible.

According to CricLife, Pranav’s coach Mubin Sheikh said that it is not fair to compare the two and also appealed not to pressurise the young batsman.

“I heard there is a lot of talk about Pranav’s non selection in the West Zone U-16 squad, but we are not sad and not even thinking about it. In cricket, you cannot talk about things that are not in our control.

The coach further said that Pranav still has to cover a lot of ground and has a long way to go before making it to the next level. He added that people should not taint the boys’ friendship with controversy and allow them to focus on the bright careers ahead of them.
