In a thrilling, unpredictable encounter, India toppled like nine pins, losing to the Kiwis by 47 runs. New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, who helped restrict a chasing India to a mere 79, their lowest ever score on home soil, was the Man of the Match.

New Zealand’s spinners came through for them, taking 9 out of ten wickets. Santner’s contribution was stellar; he took 4 wickets and conceded a mere 11 runs. Perhaps his only regret will be that he couldn’t claim Virat Kohli’s wicket for himself; that honour was Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi’s.

Santner, who’d “like a spinning pitch” going forward, said that beating India on their home turf was a confidence booster.
