India End Day 7 With 29 Medals
After a less eventful day, Tajinderpal Singh Toor made sure India has a reason to rejoice at the end of Day 7. He clinched the gold in the men’s shot put.
Earlier in the day, Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal won three bronze medals after they had to settle for it with their respective semi-final losses.
Athletics: Hima Das and Nirmla in Women's 400m Semis
India’s Hima Das and Nirmla Sheoran enter the semi-finals of the women's 400m.
Nirmla was the first person to qualify when she topped her Heat with a timing of 54.09 to qualify for the semi-final.
Hima was the next to qualify for the semis with a timing of 51.00. She also topped her Heat. In the process she broke national record in the Women's 400m qualifiers.
Women's Hockey: India beat South Korea 4-1
Gurjeet Kaur scored a brace as the Indian women’s team beat South Korea in a Pool B match 4-1.
Navneet Kaur and Vandana Katariya scored the other two goals for India.
The women’s team is still unbeaten in the competition with wins against Indonesia and Kazakhstan. They have scored 32 goals till now in the competition.
Athletics: Muhammed Anas and Arokia Rajiv in 400m Final
India’s Muhammed Anas Yahiya and Rajiv Arokia enter men’s 400m final.
Muhammed Anas Yahiya qualified for the final after finishing first in the semi-final with a timing of 45.30.
Arokia Rajiv qualified for the final after finishing second in the semi-final with a timing of 46.08
