- A 24-year-old Argentinian footballer fell to his death during a local football match in the country, reports The Washington Times. Micael Favre was Argentina’s regional league footballer.
- He received two blows during an altercation with a player of the opposite team. Favre collapsed on the field following which he was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
- Argentina’s Football Association (AFA) issued a statement saying:
The AFA wishes to express its deep sorrow of the death of Micael Favre, Club San Jorge player, which occurred when his team were playing in the Liga Departamental de Colon, at Defensores. The association also wishes to express its support for the Favre family and all those at Club San Jorge.
- The courts’ verdict regarding the cause of death would be declared after analysis of the video footage and examination of eye-witnesses.
