England’s tour of India is seeing another setback as pace spearhead James Anderson has been ruled out of the fifth and final cricket Test against India scheduled to start on 16 December in Chennai.
The pacer who had been out since August with a shoulder injury before returning to play the second Test of the five-match series in India, had complained of “body soreness” in the last match, reported England’s skipper Alastair Cook.
Unfortunately Jimmy is ruled out - he’s picked up body soreness from the last game. So he’s not going to be risked. It is a bit of everything, ankle and shoulder. We are trying to look after him.Alastair Cook
Cook also reported that a decision on whether Stuart Broad will be included in the team would be taken after the practice session on Thursday. Broad missed the last two Tests with a tendon strain in his right foot, but will look to prove his fitness during England's final training session.
Anderson also made the headlines for his comments against Indian skipper Virat Kohli. In the press conference after the Mumbai Test, Anderson had said that Virat Kohli and the team had gained from the drab pitches in India and their technical flaws will come to light once the team plays a series abroad.
India took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series with an innings victory in the fourth Test in Mumbai.
