19-year-old Mustafizur Rahman could not have scripted this better. 11 wickets in his first two one-day internationals to help Bangladesh beat India in an ODI series for the first time ever.
How’s that for a debut!
Now even as the Bangladeshi camp start the celebrations for this victory, here’s a look at the personal feats achieved by Mustafizur in just his two ODI outings so far.
1. With a haul of 6 wickets for 43 runs in his 10 overs against India in Sunday’s ODI, the 19-year-old became the first-ever cricketer to pick up 11 wickets in his first two innings.
2. A 5/50 and then a 6/43 helped Mustafizur Rahman become the second player ever to pick two back-to-back five wickets hauls in his first two outings.
Before Mustafizur, the feat was achieved by only one man - Brian Vittori of Zimbabwe, in 2011.
3. Mustafizur Rahman became the second Bangladeshi bowler to record a five-wicket haul on debut with a haul of 5/50 in the opening fixture against India.
His team-mate Taskin Ahmed was the first bowler to set that record, against India in Mirpur on June 17, 2014.
4. 19-year-old Rahman is only the third Bangladeshi player ever to win the Man-of-the-Match award on his ODI debut.
Sohag Gazi and Taijul Islam were the other two players to achieve the feat.
5. Mustafizur Rahman is also the third Bangladeshi bowler to bag six wickets in an innings in ODIs.
Mashrafe Mortaza had taken 6 for 26 vs Kenya at Nairobi on August 15, 2006 and Rubel Hossain - 6 for 26 vs New Zealand at Mirpur on October 29, 2013.
