Karun Nair, who started his Test career with scores of 13 and 4 in his first two matches, raced away to a score of 303* on day four of the fifth Test against England. The 25-year-old became the second Indian to score a triple century after Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag was the first Indian to score a triple century in the first Test against Pakistan in 2004. He went past VVS Laxman’s highest Test score of 281 and recorded India’s highest individual Test score.

Four years later, Sehwag made his way to another triple century and broke his own record of the highest individual Test score by an Indian. The Delhi lad had smashed 319 runs off 304 balls.

Nair has been able to achieve a feat that the greats like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid weren’t able to achieve in their Test careers.
