According to Indian Express, the voice of Indian cricket, Harsha Bhogle has been dropped from the commentary team for the ninth edition of the IPL.

Interstingly, the BCCI which controls the tournament’s production has not formally told Harsha the reason for leaving him out.

No one told me anything. I have not been formally told of the reason even now. All I have been told is ‘it is a BCCI management decision’.

I must confess I am a little uncomfortable with all the attention I have been getting recently. I am just a cricket...

According to reports, Harsha had a heated exchange with a Vidharbha Cricket Association official during the opening World T20 game at Nagpur. Some of the board members felt Harsha was left out of the team because of the exchange.

In Nagpur, the Hindi and English commentary boxes are separated with the president’s enclosure. If the commentators had to move from the English commentary box to the Hindi one, they had to go down a flight of stairs and come up again from the other side.

The commentators weren’t allowed to go through the president’s enclosure since the Vidharbha Cricket Association officials had disallowed it.

Working on a tight deadline, because of running around, I was at times panting as I went on air. This was because of that shut door. Even if it was the Nagpur incident, no one heard my part of the story.

It must also here be added that, during the World T20, commentators also ran into unwanted controversy when Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about Indian commentators not praising the efforts of the their players and rather speak more about other players.

Though the veteran actor did not take any name, but it was largely assumed that he referred to Bhogle.

Though there is nothing direct that can be connected to the removal of the commentator from the IPL panel. But the social media remained speculative of all the possible reasons, which included even this.

Meanwhile, many others took to the social media, especially Twitter to show their support for Bhogle and even started trolling BCCI asking them to take Navjot Singh Sidhu off air instead.
