On Thursday, Rabri Devi, the former Chief Minister of Bihar stirred up controversy as she backed her son Tejaswi Yadav, the deputy CM for the post of Bihar’s CM, as India Today reported.
Her comments came in the backdrop of several RJD legislators speaking favourably of the idea.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event in Patna, she claimed that Tejaswi was the choice of CM among the people of the state.
Her comment was in response to a question about her view on legislators like Surendra Yadav, Ramanuj and Chandra Shekhar - a minister in the Nitish Kumar government, vying for Tejaswi’s claim on the CM seat.
Ye janta ka maang hai aur janta jo chahegi wohi hoga na. (This is what the people want, and whatever the people want, that will happen right?)Rabri Devi
the ministers were advised by CM Kumar to refrain from making contentious statements that would cause discomfort to the Grand Alliance government.
Lalu Prasad has also said in the past that his son Tejaswi would become the state’s CM, carrying the family’s legacy forward.
However, he tried to soften the stance by saying there was no vacancy for the top post at present, trying to lessen the controversy.
I and Mulayam Singh Yadav have now become old. Akhilesh and Tejaswi are the future chief ministers. However, there is no immediate vacancy for Chief Minister now.
